Designing a high fidelity prototype

Discovering Fusion 360!

Fusion 360

I learned, made this whole product in Fusion 360 in a whole weekend. Which is one of my proudest accomplishments. I did not have CAD experience before. The product consists of 6 parts: Wheel, Wheel, BaseLayer, GroundLayer, ExtentsionLayer, LidLayer.

Individual parts + context in Fusion 360

Wheel

A round structure with a mechanism that allows the servo to be locked in place. This mechanism causes the servo's not to have any friction because there is not a lot of free space. everything is carefully measured.

Base-Layer

This base layer will have most of the electronic parts + 9volt battery The servos will be locked tight with 2 mm screws into each side of the base layer. There will be 2 main switches to power up the robot. 1 for the 9-volt battery and one for the 6-volt battery.

The Arduino Uno will be placed in an elevated position so that no pins can be damaged.

Ground-Layer

This ground-layer provides further protection and invisibility for underlying electronics such as a battery or an infrared sensor. This part is purely for design purposes.

Extention-Layer

This layer causes the interior to extent, making a place for electronic components such as a breadboard and cables.

Lid

The last layer is an output layer. The LCD module and speaker module are going to be assembled. Lcd module --> square opening. Speaker module into the circle opening.

3d Printing

Everything is 3d printed and I'm ready to assemble the first version of my robot!

Personal opinion

This phase is the most satisfying phase because you could see your slow work in the previous weeks paying off. I had a lot of fun exploring CAD software and will probably keep doing it as a hobbyist. Engineering my own products has become my new hobby.
